You don’t need to be in crisis

Sometimes it’s obvious that something isn’t okay. Other times, things just feel harder than you expected them to.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or not quite yourself can be enough. So can struggling with something that has happened, worrying about what’s ahead, or finding it difficult to adjust to changes in your life, relationships or sense of who you are.

You don’t need to wait until things feel unbearable before reaching out for support.

How I can support you

Birth trauma counselling

A birth can be traumatic even when others think everything went “well”.
You may be left replaying what happened, feeling anxious or on edge,
struggling with reminders of the birth, or wondering why you can’t just
move on. EMDR therapy can help process traumatic birth experiences and reduce the distress that can remain afterwards.

Fertility & IVF support

Trying to conceive and going through fertility treatment or IVF can bring uncertainty, disappointment, difficult decisions and a seemingly endless cycle of waiting and hoping. Counselling can help you navigate the emotional impact, manage the parts you can’t control and make sense of how the experience may be affecting you and your relationship.

Pregnancy loss & grief

The grief that follows pregnancy loss can be complex and deeply personal. Alongside grieving your baby, you may also be grieving the future you had already begun to imagine. There is no right way to grieve, and you and your partner may experience and express that grief very differently.

Pregnancy after loss or trauma

Being pregnant again after loss, a traumatic birth or another difficult experience can bring hope and fear at the same time. Previous experiences can make it difficult to trust that things will be okay, even when this pregnancy is progressing.

Pregnancy & antenatal support

Pregnancy isn’t always the joyful experience we imagine it will be. Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, fear about birth or your baby, and feeling overwhelmed by what lies ahead can make it difficult to enjoy or even feel connected to your pregnancy.

Early parenthood & postnatal support

Becoming a parent can change so much, including your identity, relationships, priorities and the amount of capacity you have for everything else. Sometimes the reality of parenthood simply doesn’t match what you expected, and it can take time to find your feet in this new version of life.

What counselling with me looks like

You don’t need to know where to start.

Some people come to their first session knowing exactly what they want to talk about. Others know something doesn’t feel quite right, but aren’t sure how to put it into words. Both are completely okay.

Our sessions are conversational and shaped around what you need. Sometimes that means making sense of what’s been happening and understanding why you might be feeling or responding the way you are. Sometimes we’ll focus on practical strategies you can use outside the counselling room. At other times, we may work more deeply with difficult or traumatic experiences.

You won’t be expected to tell me everything at once, and there isn’t a right way to “do” counselling. We’ll work out together what feels useful and go from there.
